The subsidy

What the central government pays toward your system

The Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is credited directly to your bank account after installation and net metering.

System sizeCentral subsidy (CFA)
Up to 2 kW₹30,000 per kW
2 kW system₹60,000 total
3 kW and above₹78,000 (maximum)
Delhi homeowners get an additional state subsidy on top of the above. The Delhi government's own Capital Subsidy pays ₹26,000 per kW, up to a 3 kW system — a maximum of ₹78,000 — with no additional state subsidy on the portion of a system above 3 kW. Combined with the central CFA, that's a potential total of up to ₹1,56,000 for a 3 kW system. Eligibility, the exact amount for your case and current scheme rules are confirmed during your survey.

FAQ

Common questions

Who is eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

You need to own a house with a suitable roof and hold a valid electricity connection in your name. We check the specifics for your property during the free survey.

How much roof space do I need?

As a rough guide, about 100 sq ft per kW of system size. We confirm the exact layout and shading during the survey.

I live in a flat or housing society (RWA) — can I apply?

It depends on your roof access and society approval. We confirm this during the survey.

How long does approval and installation take?

Typically a few weeks from registration to commissioning, depending on DISCOM processing times. We confirm your exact timeline during the survey — this is why booking early matters, with the subsidy window closing 31 March 2027.

What exactly does the subsidy cover?

The Central Financial Assistance covers part of your installation cost, based on system size — see the subsidy table above. It is disbursed to your bank account after installation and net metering are complete.

What happens after 31 March 2027?

The current scheme window is open until 31 March 2027. Since approval and installation take several weeks, we recommend booking your survey well ahead of the deadline rather than close to it. We'll keep you updated on any changes to the scheme.

What is net metering?

Net metering lets your solar system send surplus daytime power back to the grid and draw power at night, netting the two off against your bill. We handle the DISCOM net-metering application on your behalf.
